5G Infrastructure Deployment

The described infrastructure must provide connectivity with the standard characteristics of 5G, including high bandwidth and low latency, using a multi-cell network that allows handover testing under various conditions. The network must operate in a basic mode to provide service and connectivity, supporting experiments in the upper layers of the network, and must be configurable for research at the radio access level.

General architecture of the 5G SA network

The ELEGANT project will deploy two FR2 antennas (band n258) per campus, on top of an infrastructure previously installed by the 6G-OpenLab project, which includes three FR1 antennas (band n40) per campus, along with the 5G core and the corresponding BBU units for each campus.
