Network Measurement and Monitoring Equipment

ELEGANT plans to incorporate a set of advanced measurement and instrumentation equipment to ensure the deployment, testing, and validation of the B5G/6G infrastructure.
These tools are essential to guarantee proper network operation, conduct high-performance testing, and develop advanced applications in real-world environments, such as connected vehicles, Industry 4.0, or smart grids.

Below are the main pieces of equipment planned for inclusion in the ELEGANT project:

1. NT1, NT2 and GS1

  • Mobile network test terminals supporting 5G, LTE, WCDMA, and GSM.

  • 5G NR Release 17 signal generator with two channels, frequency range from 20 GHz to 44 GHz, adjustable Gaussian noise sources, and bit error rate (BER) measurement capabilities.

2. AS1

  • 5G NR R17 signal analyzer up to 44 GHz, essential for signal analysis in millimeter wave bands such as 26 GHz.

3. ASO1 and ESACAmp1

  • High-speed oscilloscope-digitizer, expandable up to 16 GHz.

  • Portable spectrum analyzer for field tests up to 26 GHz, useful for verifying correct usage of the radio spectrum.

4. CPRI1 and OTNTest1

  • CPRI/eCPRI traffic analyzer, for inspecting 5G/B5G network interfaces.

  • OTN signal analyzer, used for monitoring the DWDM optical transport network.

5. MON1, OSA1 and Filt1

  • Optical power monitor with variable attenuator.

  • Optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) for monitoring fiber transmission quality.

  • Tunable optical filter for isolating and analyzing specific channels within the optical network.
